All races are
run on asphalt and start and finish at 5145 feet of elevation,
which is the highest point on either course.
The more challenging of the races, the
half marathon takes the participant on a complete
tour of Prescott Valley' s most popular business, civic,
recreational, and residential hot spots - including the
Town Hall, school district, Mountain Valley Park, and
Glassford Hill ( dormant volcano, where the antelope roam).
After a rapid downgrade start (2.5 miles), runners experience
an elevation drop of approximately 300 feet while navigating
a few hills between miles 4 & 6, then a gradual climb
back to the upper valley, ending with a gradual downgrade
between miles 9 & 12 and slight downgrade to the fInish.
The 10K heads right for Mountain View Park and the Boys
& Girls Club with flat and downgrade for the first
3 miles, then slight upgrade for 1 mile, then rapid downgrade
to Town Hall, ending with an easy downgrade finish.
Rapid downgrade through business and medical districts,
around Town Hall, ending in an easy upgrade finish.
From Town Center to Town Hall and back. What goes down
must come up. This one actually takes it's participants
through the courtyard of the Prescott Valley Town Hall
and civic center. |
